Hastings Premium Filters Exhibiting at AAPEX


Hastings Premium Filters will be exhibiting at the Automotive Aftermarket Products Expo (AAPEX) in Las Vegas, Nevada, October 30 through November 1, 2012. Hastings will be located at Booth 6010 in the Sands Expo Center.

Hastings provides lube, air, fuel, transmission and coolant filters for automotive and heavy-duty over-the road vehicles and off-highway equipment. "Our exhibit will focus on how Hastings can help prevent the damage that even a small bit of contaminant can cause an engine," said Jay Hussey, Vice President Branded Sales.

"We will be featuring our line of high quality air filters. Even a tiny amount of contaminant can ruin an engine quickly," Hussey said. "All vehicles run in environments where contaminants are present," said Hussey. "Helping people realize how much they can save through consistent filter maintenance with a quality filter line is one of our goals."

"This event allows Hastings representatives the opportunity to interact with people in the automotive industry who make the decisions that affect their bottom line," Hussey continued.

AAPEX represents the global motor vehicle aftermarket and is jointly sponsored by the Automotive Aftermarket Suppliers Association (AASA) and the Automotive Aftermarket Industry Association (AAIA).

Hastings Premium Filters Hosts Hastings University


Hastings Premium Filters recently welcomed distributors to its three-day filtration seminar, Hastings University at its headquarters in Kearney, Nebraska.

Distributors from Florida, Georgia, Kansas, Minnesota, Missouri, Montana, New Jersey, North Dakota, Pennsylvania and South Dakota joined newly hired Hastings employees to learn more about filtration and specifically the Hastings advantages in the marketplace.

"Hastings University is designed to give both our distributors and our employees a deeper understanding of Hastings and how we approach manufacturing filtration products. By including both distributors and employees, both groups gain a different perspective about our filters and their worth in the marketplace," said Steve Englund, Hastings Training Manager.

Hastings University, which is presented by Hastings design engineers and other staff members, is designed to broaden awareness of today's filtration theories and practices. Plant and lab tours demonstrate the construction of Hastings' product line and examine research being done on existing and future filtration concepts.

Information about Hastings Premium Filters' Cataloging, Customer Service, Quality Assurance and Technical Services are a part of the course. Discussions about preventive maintenance practices, and extended oil drain intervals - all concerns of today's heavy equipment operator - are also featured during the seminar.



Electronic Catalog Update Available September 11


Updates for the Hastings Premium Filters' Electronic Catalog Version 1.2 will be available September 11, 2012. Please note previous versions of the electronic catalog cannot be updated through the Internet.

To update your version of the electronic catalog, open your Hastings Electronic Catalog program (Version 1.2). On the first screen of the electronic catalog program, click on the "Updates" button in the left hand menu and follow the directions. You must have an Internet connection to complete the update. This download will update catalog data, U.S. pricing and Canadian pricing.

If you do not have Version 1.2 of the Electronic Catalog CD, you may order it through Customer Service at 800-887-8836. Version 1.2 is now compatible with the Windows Vista™ operating system. The updated version provides more "Print" options than the previous CD and users will notice a "Users Guide" as a built-in feature of the CD.



Hastings Premium Filters Honored by Federated Auto Parts


Hastings Premium Filters recently received Vendor of the Year – Order Fill honors from Federated Auto Parts. The award was presented at the Federated national meeting held April 25-28 at the Arizona Grande Resort in Phoenix, AZ.

The Vendor of the Year – Order Fill award was awarded based on voting by the Federated members and is presented to the vendor which has provided the highest percent of order fill to the members.

This is the second consecutive year Hastings has earned this honor. Hastings was also recognized for its support of Federated's National Car Care Program.

Phil Kommers, Hastings Vice President Aftermarket Sales, and Bill Osterbrock, Hastings National Account Manager, along with Hastings Regional Sales Managers Tom Feery, Greg Hopkins, Terry Makinster and Jim Preller, attended the Federated meeting.

In addition to being on hand for the awards ceremony on April 26, the Hastings sales team met with Federated members to discuss the Hastings brand.

"It is indeed an honor to be recognized by the members of Federated as a vendor of the year," said Phil Kommers, Hastings Vice President Aftermarket Sales. "Federated members are great partners, and we appreciate being recognized as a key supplier."

Federated Auto Parts, which is headquartered in Staunton, Virginia, is one of the largest auto parts distributors in North America.



Hastings Premium Filters Debuts 2012-13 Point of Sale Program


Hastings Premium Filters recently debuted its 2012-13 Brand Builder Point of Sales Program. This program includes point of sale materials to aid distributors in promoting the Hastings brand and features a fresh new look.

"We are excited to offer this program to our distributors," said Kevin Connolly, Hastings' Vice President of Marketing. "This year's program has many items that have stood the test of time, but also includes an exciting new filter display that allows customers at the counter to compare a Hastings lube filter with two direct competitors."

The new point of sale elements include colorful graphics that capture Hastings' commitment to moving forward and providing the best possible product, according to Connolly. "The point of sales items themselves - the counter mat, posters, banners - are available at little or no cost to our distributors," he continued.

While the program is designed as a pick and order program, convenient prepackaged kits are also available. "We have listened to our customers to build the best program to help them increase their sales," said Phil Kommers, Hastings' Vice President of Aftermarket Sales. "The positive customer response to this program tells me that we have succeeded."



Hastings Premium Filters Releases Automotive Applications Catalog


Hastings Premium Filters' 2012 Automotive Applications catalog (F109-12) is now available in print and online. This 696-page comprehensive catalog contains applications for domestic and foreign automobiles, motorcycles and light-duty trucks.

The main section of the catalog contains applications from 1980 to the present. Applications for automobiles built prior to 1980 follow in its own section, where users can search by make and model. Hastings has included a detailed segment on its automotive transmission filters by system. This allows users to see the specifications of the various transmission filters.

The Automotive Applications catalog also includes installation instructions for all of the cabin air filters offered in the Hastings line. These instructions, which are included with each filter sold and are available on the company's website, also include the specifications of each cabin air filter.

"We add new applications to our database on a daily basis," said Ken Stirn, Director, Product Management at Hastings Premium Filters. "Through continual research, we can offer the most comprehensive catalog possible. In addition to our print edition, we maintain electronic catalogs on CD and on the internet, which allows us to maintain the highest possible standard."
